Peter V. O'Sullivan

LAWRENCE — Peter V. O'Sullivan, 85, of Lawrence, died on Monday, May 16, 2005.
He was born in Lawrence on Sept. 11, 1919, to his late parents Patrick and Julia (Sheahan) O'Sullivan. He was a 1936 graduate of Lawrence High School.
On March 2, 1941, he married his loving wife of 64 years Dorothy A. (Fraser).
In 1944, Peter joined the Army, where he attained the rank of corporal and received the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged from the service in 1946.
He was appointed to the Lawrence Fire Dept. in 1948 and worked mainly out of engine 2, until going to the central station engine 5, where he became a deputy chauffeur and retired after 35 years of service. During his time with the fire dept., he also worked at Boynton Press Co., operating a Heidelberg Press.
Peter was a life member of St. Patrick's Church, a member of the Lawrence Firefighter Mutual Relief Association, St. Patrick's Holy Names Society, and St. Vincent de Paul. He enjoyed traveling to Ireland and Scotland. Salisbury beach was his favorite place to go. Peter also enjoyed his family, and taking them for Sunday drives.
Besides his wife, he will be remembered with love by his nine surviving children, Dorothy and her husband John Beierwaltes of Burlington, N.C., Mary Grieco of Florida, Sheila and her husband Douglas Ramsden of North Andover, Peter and his wife Debbie of Methuen, Ruth and her husband Steven Caisse of North Andover, Christine O'Sullivan of Lawrence, Catherine O'Sullivan of North Andover, Shauna and her husband Paul Rollins of North Andover, and Paul O'Sullivan and his wife Sandy of Hudson, N.H. He is also survived by a sister, Margaret Lawlor of Brooksville, Fla.; 27 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by a son in 1985, Patrick J. O'Sullivan; two brothers, Dennis and Reverend Patrick J. O'Sullivan; and a sister, Therese O'Sullivan.
ARRANGEMENTS: Friends may call on Peter's family today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hart-Wallace Funeral Home, 107 South Broadway, Lawrence, Mass. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, St. Patrick's Church, with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Peters name to the Special Olympics of Danvers, Mass. Arrangements are entrusted to Hart-Wallace Funeral Home, 107 South Broadway, Lawrence.
