Robert E. Bernard

LAWRENCE -- Robert E. Bernard, 69, died yesterday at home.
He was a firefighter in Lawrence before retiring in 1989.
Mr. Bernard served in the Navy during the Korean conflict.
He was a member of the First Calvary Baptist Church, where he served on the board of directors and bylaws committee. He was also a member of the church choir.
The widower of Mary M. Bernard, he leaves wife Donna J. (Simmons) Bernard; sons Edward E. Bernard of Lawrence, Gregory M. Darrach and his wife Laura of Bow, N.H., and Todd I. C. Darrach and his wife Linda of Rhome, Texas; daughters Karan M. Bergeron and her husband Maurice, Roberta E. Sedgwick and her husband William and Eleanor D. Darrach, all of Lawrence, Cynthia I. Bozek and her husband David of Methuen, Kenda J. Howell and her husband Gordon of Derry, N.H., and Gloria F. Shiuto and her husband David of Dracut; brothers William E. of Haverhill and Herbert of Salem, N.H.; sisters Theresa Locke of Andover and Elaine Watton of Florida; 26 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

ARRANGEMENTS: Calling hours are Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Burke Funeral Home, 390 N. Main St., Andover. Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the First Calvary Baptist Church, 586 Mass. Ave., North Andover. Cremation will be in Linwood Crematory.
